Our Story

How It All Began

When Time Can’t Wait

On March 5, 2022, during one of the darkest periods for Ukraine, our mission was born.

In response to the urgent need of thousands of soldiers and civilians for tactical medicine training, under the initiative of NGO "Expedition" and the REVA Foundation, a team of specialists with real-life experience and a clear vision came together at the Military Department of Odesa Polytechnic University.

This team, which later became an independent NGO called "VIDNOVA+", understood one thing very clearly: there was no time to waste.

In the first days of the full-scale invasion, volunteers from these organizations focused on delivering essential supplies to the military, including individual first aid kits (IFAKs). However, it quickly became clear that not only were there far too few kits, but most of them also failed to meet critical, life-saving standards.

Thanks to our efforts and the invaluable support and consultations of British and American volunteer instructors, we were able not only to standardize the contents of these kits but also to train people on how to use them effectively.

Every Skill Saves a Life

During the most intense months of the war — from March to September 2022 — our instructors provided free tactical medicine training wherever it was needed: in military units, civilian facilities, open fields, and even basements under fire.

Over this period, we trained more than 1,700 servicemen and 4,500 civilians — people who now know how to act at the most critical moments.

But we didn’t stop there.

Our instructor training system became so effective that our specialists went on to receive international-level certifications, including TCCC (NATO standard), BLS, and STOP THE BLEED.

VIDNOVA+  – More Than Just Training

In October 2022, VIDNOVA+ officially became an independent NGO.

Together with our colleagues and partners, we began implementing the latest medical protocols into the training of military personnel, emergency services, rescue teams, and volunteers.

Despite all the challenges, fatigue, and losses, we continue to train people every single day because we fully understand that we are teaching those who will, in turn, save countless lives.

Today, we are proud to say that since March 2022, our instructors have trained over 20,000 people — both military and civilians.

We are grateful for the opportunity to keep going, to expand our reach, and to equip even more people with life-saving skills.

Every day, we improve our methods, enhance our skills, and push forward to become even more effective.

Why Proper Training Matters

Many well-intentioned people want to help and sincerely believe they can become combat medics in a short time. Unfortunately, improvised methods, homemade tourniquets, or so-called “life-hack” advice do not meet internationally accepted standards and can even cost lives.

Even highly experienced doctors are not always prepared to work under battlefield conditions, where chaos and danger are constant. The role of a combat medic is to keep a person alive until they reach professional medical care — a task that demands both physical skill and mental strength.

A true combat medic must be ready for the unexpected, trained to provide emergency aid in the field, evacuate the wounded under fire, and act as both a soldier and a psychologist.

This is exactly where VIDNOVA+ with generous support of kind people and humanitarian organizations, steps in — closing this critical gap by providing world-class training.

Our mission is to ensure that both medical professionals and those with no prior experience become fully qualified combat life-savers, equipped with the right knowledge, mindset, and skills to save lives when every second counts.
